Jake stared at the girl for about a minute, his eyes never leaving hers, wondering why in the name of blueberry pancakes she would WANT to know.

"Don't you think if I saw anything, I would have told Kazimeriz when I went to see him?" he asked flatly, looking straight at the girl. "And to be perfectly honest, if I saw someone, don't you think it would be around school by now?"

Crossing his arms, Jake glared at Melanie, hiding his still shaken composure. "Was there anything else?" he asked bluntly, as if he didn't know that she wouldn't let the matter drop that quickly.
