Cale's lack of concern for Professor Vindictus stemmed partly from the fact that Cale was still upset with the professor for not doing anything to Peeves, or showing any concern or remorse to Cale, after the poltergeist killed/destroyed all the plants he had potted and grown for the professor over the summer.
"And we don't know what that 'stupid thing'," he mimicked her voice for a moment. "Will do if left running about the castle! It could be up in the library helping Peeves rip apart books for all we know! Or on the 6th floor shredding tapestries! And then what? Who's going to be blamed? Most likely me! Even though I wasn't the one who let it get away."
"You know what Cale!" She said pushing him out of the way, ignoring that a teacher was even really there. Valentine felt as though she shouldn't have even come back to lift the jinxes off the boy. Perhaps someone else could have shown him pity. Any other day than this she would have helped him with his gnometruckle. But today, when she needed help? No, she just couldn't stand it.
"Come talk to me when you've gained some sanity." She sighed, walking down the hall again to go find Tobias.
