She was deathly afraid of the man, that was true, but she'd be lying if she said he'd turned out to be a rotten professor. The man was anything but. Every word, every movement, and every demonstration was unlike anything she'd ever seen. She'd tell him that---someday---but as of now, everytime she thought about speaking to the man, little balls of cotton seemed to sprout up in the back of her throat, causing her to feel like she'd strangle herself to death if she attempted a single word.

Anna listened carefully as Professor Kazimeriz discussed the three components of the protego charm. As he spoke, Anna took notes on points such as the wand motion, the incantation, and the fact that she must exhibit focus and intent. She was determined to succeed in this class and figure out some way to make this man proud of her efforts. She'd have to work harder than she'd ever had to work before, but in the longrun, the reward would be the lessons learned when everything was said and done.

Anna rose from her seat and grabbed her wand, holding it firmly by her side in preparation of what was to come. She looked the professor in the eyes as he gave further instructions, and she nodded when he said that the protego charm would be practiced until every member of the class succeeded. She stood, wand still grasped firmly in her hand, and waited to see what would happen next. No matter how prepared she tried to be, the sudden raining of acorns took her by a great deal of surprise. She quickly positioned her wand toward the falling pellets and moved it in a sweeping, upward arc. She ended the motion with a sharp snap of her wrist and then called out a careful and confident "Protego!" An acorn---just one, single acorn amongst the many that were pouring down---bounced away from her. She'd succeeded, but there many, many other acorns pounding down upon her in the meantime.
Kazimeriz approached Greingoth, eyeing her form. "Not bad. Pivot your wrist more to the right as you snap, Miss Greingoth, and lean into the cast more." He watched her practice.

"Excellent! Now work on sustaining the shield. Focus." He addressed the class. "If you have already successfully cast a shield, unless you are helping another student continue to work on sustaining the shield. You should not be hit by a single acorn." Fortunately, the acorns were charmed to disappear as they hit the ground, or they'd be swimming in them by now. It amused Kazimeriz to see them pelting down on the students, as he knew they were a bit on the painful side, but a little pain was a great incentive to learn -- and it was far better to learn to protect themselves when facing little acorns than have to learn the skill while facing their next challenge...

Standing as instructed, and it started raining acorns. The little buggers packed a punch. Enough of that.

Her wand almost moved on it's own as she commanded, 'Protego.'

With her sheild in place, she sat back down, on a handfull of acorns. Ouch. Lifting up a few inches, she swept off the acorns with her free hand and sat back down.

Sitting there holding her wand up like an umbrella, she looked around. It appeared that most everybody had succeeded and those who didn't had assistance. She'd come a long way in her wand-work since she arrive at Hogwarts the first time. Oh those first three years were disasterous, but finally, in her fourth year, it all came together...thanks to friends with loads of patience....and lots and lots of practice.

It was so dark in the classroom that she couldn't tell how everyone was doing. 'Does anybody in here still need help?'
Kazimeriz nodded once to the girl, glad that she was offering to assist others.

"Very good- nice control." Kazimeriz nodded.

Ana held her wand firmly and try to focus "Protego!" nothing happened not even a little light. Oh please work...and work fast she thought. She tried to concentrate harder and once again she said "Protego!" this time a weak light formed but if her life depended on that she could say bye to it. She sighed. But giving up it was not on Ana's nature so she reunited all her attention and energy to her wand and mind, she closed her eyes for a few moments and then "Protego!" she said and a shield appeared. Not a perfect shield but good to start.

"More focus. Draw from your sense of self-preservation."

"Better. But maintain that focus. Concentrate on how much you don't want to feel the pain..."

He cast his own wand up toward the ceiling, adding sharp little spikes to the acorns- not sharp enough to pierce the skin, but enough to really, really feel unpleasant. Even painful. He peeled back his smile in a wicked leer. "You really do not wish to be pelted by these. Focus on protecting yourselves."
