Nick took a seat on one of the empty chairs next to where Belle was leaning on the table and asked curiously "Haven't you ever sat around a fire singing camp songs together with other people or you're family? Its quite fun and nobody cares if you sing good or not."
He finished off the last pieces of his banana before digging into his few grapes. As Belle asked her next question he felt his ears go a little red as he said quietly but loud enough for her to hear. "Erm.. Getting to know you... And of course the other campers. Umm..I guess taking part in the camp activites. I don't really know what you can do at this camp.. Do you?" Nick wondered how she would react to his small confession. She nodded in agreement. 'Of course you have to try them first. Well, I'll make sure you have a chance, whether it kills me or not,' she joked, before taking another, smaller bite of the apple and swallowing it quickly. 'But I can guarantee you'll love them.'
Belle shook her head. 'Nope. We've had a few camps in our backgarden, mostly for Dan and Susie, but we've never sung songs.' She shrugged. 'Besides, even if nobody cares I will not willingly sing.' At least, not unless something major happened to change her mind. A highly unlikely feat at this moment in time, but who knew?
Oh, was he blushing? The dark-haired girl frowned, curious at his sudden possible embarassement.
That was, at least, until he answered her question. For a second, she focused on swallowing her latest bite of apple, bringing it to half-finished, before she answered. 'Well, you'll have plenty of chance to get to know everyone here. Two weeks is a long time.' She shrugged again. 'But I remember from a camp when I was about nine, and I was a member of this Brownie group -' it sounded strange but was true, Belle hated to admit. Which was probably why she'd dropped her voice. '- we went camping and we ended up doing random activities. None had any meaning; it was basically stuff like "finding the thread" and "building a tent". Pretty useless stuff for us.' She glanced around her. 'But I don't know what we're going to end up doing here. It's bound to be different.'
