Anna? Moving? No, it couldn't be happening...ok, so he was with Evolette and everything but that didn't mean he didn't have feelings for Anna! In fact, he loved her. He lovedddddddddd Anna and he hated this stupid breakup and if she had never broken up with him they'd be picking out candy right now as a couple.
Suddenly, he went from being super depressed, to super annoyed. What in the world was she thinking? Leaving just because she couldn't stand to be around him? Geez, he was only a guy! Yeah, a pretty darn awesome guy to say the least, but still, he had thought they could move past this! He had hoped, for a tiny fraction of a second, that they could be friends again, but apparently that was not happening. Ever.
He crossed his arms. "Anna, don't be dumb. You don't need to transfer schools and get out of the flipping country to get away from me."
Anna blinked and jumped back again when Cale proceeded to spill his bag of Jelly Slugs all over the floor. She flinched in a movement to pick them up, but when she noticed that he didn't seem to care one bit about his candy at the moment, she just stopped and went back to staring at him, waiting to see what he would have to say.
"Cale...NO!" she exclaimed, a little too loud for conversation inside a candy shop. She lowered her voice and then continued. "It's not like that. It's not like that at all. It's just...well, honestly, can you be around Seth and I for long periods of time? Or Nico and I? Can you honestly? Now do you see why I'm leaving? It's just better for both of us this way...not just
me!" She looked into his eyes and begged him to believe her. It was true. It really was. She had a feeling he wouldn't believe her, though. Or, at least, not now. Maybe later...when she was long gone...and he'd had time to think about it some more.
