"Stop making things up," he said, rather irritated for no reason. "Being a first year isn't a good excuse to be stupid, either. Nia here seems to be holding up just fine as a first year, and I don't remember myself being so ignorant and claiming that I don't know how things work. That's what the books are for."
"How'd this girl end up in our house anyway?" He asked no one in particular, in a low murmur.
"Maybe that's why I 'ended up' in this house. Because looks like I was smart enough to figure out how to irritate you," Emily said, a little annoyed. "And besides, books can only take you so far. I never imaged Hogwarts to be this
great!" Emily sighed to herself, forgetting her irritation for a moment.
Then she noticed the girl who the boy was most likely speaking about. Emily remembered her name being Nia. "So you're a first year too? That's great. I can't wait for flying lessons. It's a shame first years can't have their own brooms, don't you think?"
