"I'm very glad for it," he replied. "I guess I've finally figured out the thing that all my luck got put into. I don't hurt girls when I knock them over."
It was, in fact, pretty lucky. Growing up the way he did, he had gotten pretty good with being careful about falling or knocking into things. When he was younger, any little shock could have sent him over the edge and back into the hospital... He ignored the thought of that and listened to Evangeline Green as she continued on.
"You didn't even notice that your own name rhymed?" he said incredulously. How silly of her! "I really like your rhyming name, Evangeline Green... why would people want to write bad songs? I can only think of good songs for Evangeline Green, because you're nice!"
Ack. Evangeline had thought that perhaps this badge would make her softer side go away, but so far, nothing. Nope, it was still there. She still chuckled when little Rai laughed. Bleh - weren't Prefects meant to be mean?
"That's a really good thing to have if you're clumsy like m.." She caught herself before actually saying 'me' and coughed to disguise it. Clumsy Prefect's weren't cool.
"...like some people I know. At least you'll never hurt girls."
Surprised, she noticed that she was blushing in embarrassment when the little boy asked if she really hadn't noticed her name rhymed. Really, was she that distracted? An eleven year old noticed it the moment she said it, and yet she hadn't. Not even once in the fifteen years she had lived with the name. Eh.
"I didn't, no." She chuckled sheepishly, getting some chips out of plate and munching it. Argh. Noisy.
She smiled softly when he mentioned the songs again, remembering about the one song that someone had written to her. It wasn't about her rhyming name, but it was equally nice. Heck, it was amazing.
"I dunno. It could happen, I suppose." She nodded absent mindedly, her mind wandering off to that one person.

A certain PREFECT!
And a certain Prefect is what he found. She looked kinda busy though, talking to the younger kids ... maybe it was Prefect work? Sending a sheepish smile in her direction and not wanting to disturb her, Clifford found himself an empty seat.
The person that was just passing by.
Evangeline blinked once, wondering if she was going mad. How weird. She had been thinking of him, and now there he was! And smiling at her! Immediatelly, she smiled back and waved, motioning for him to come and sit with her and Raiden.
Erm.
Her smile fading away slightly, she looked questioningly at him as he sat down on an empty bench and patted the empty seat next to her again. Why didn't he want to go and sit with her? Was it because he didn't want to be seen with a Prefect? EEP! Maybe!
But he had sounded so happy! Bleh.
