Cale thought for a moment. "I guess that might work. We'll get you a helmet or something - I'm sure that Ryan would be willing to lend you one of the quidditch helmets.
And just as Cale mentioned him, the quidditch captain popped up. "Heya Ry-" only Cale stopped upon seeing the sour look on the man's face. "Something wrong? You look like your broom got whacked to pieces with a bludger. Here - have a slice of berry pie. Pie makes everything better." He pushed the pie pan over to the man.
Ryan watched Cale talk with his friends. They seemed to be having a good time, which was nice. Ryan had no intentions of joining them. He just wasn't in the mood.
"No, nothing wrong," Ryan said wearily in response to his prefect friend.
"It was just a long, tiring summer. I'm not really in the mood to be cheery right now."
He smiled as the boy slid him some pie. Pie was delicious, so he gladly accepted and dug into it.
"Thanks, Cale." Maybe this year wouldn't be as bad as he was making it out to be at the moment. Things would pick up once quidditch season started.
