His flat, monotonous voice actually made her feel a little ill and a little saddened. So, she'd missed him but he hadn't actually missed her. "That's nice" Who said that?

Looking away from him, jaw set firm, mouth in a straight line, she lightly made a sfot "hmph" noise.

Was he telling her she should run off with other boys? Because she was here first.

"I don't want to go run off with boys, as you put it," she replied flatly. "Are you trying to get rid of me suddenly? I was here first, thank you very much."

Hmph. Samson was NOT in the mood for this. He didn't want to put up with emotions at the moment, thanks very much. Especially when they came from Issy. He wasn't used to that! Yes, he recognized that he himself frequently had mood swings, but that didn't mean Issy was supposed to have them too. They were different. They had different situations and feelings and things. Just because he did it didn't mean she had to do it, too.

Fine! Let her be stubborn and pout like a bratty little girl. Who's fault was it that he suddenly became like this anyway? It was her hug. So it was her fault. He had nothing to do with it! And now it was karma, getting back at her because she decided she wouldn't give him a proper hello.

Girls.

"I didn't mean for it to sound that way, but if you're going to look at it like that, then be my guest," he snapped back. At least he was trying to be polite. "I did come up to you and had no intention of arguing, but I guess my timing was wrong, and now you decide to pick a fight." He took a step back and surveyed her. "And you can always tell me to go away if you really wanted to."
