Amelia bit her lip as she stared blankly at the Arithmancy professor for a few moments. She could tell the professor seemed worried by her presence, which wasn't really her fault. Well it was, especially by her initial words.
Taking a brief moment to look around, she noticed how very different and unwelcoming this office seemed compared to back at Hogwarts. She wondered if it was partly due to the woman being head of house for Hufflepuff. Finally, after dawdling enough, she sighed and reached into her bag pulling out her homework with Clark's strange encryption on it.
"Nothing much, but I have a message to deliver," she started, but then remembered Clark's words. "I mean, there's a mistake in correction on my homework." Hesitating a moment, she smiled and handed over the parchment to Shackleton, with Clark's scrawl on top:
Macadrian looked quizzically at the young woman standing before her, a message to deliver? In her homework? What on earth was this girl talking about? And then she accepted the paper into her hand and everything made sense. As she read the small handwriting at the top, her heart immediately stopped beating in her chest.
With each line she read, the smile that danced around her lips grew larger and larger until finally she was grinning from ear to ear. And then suddenly,
"OH MY GOODNESS! OH MY! HE LOVES ME! HE LOVES ME!" Macadrian exclaimed excitedly as she grabbed Amelia's shoulders and jumped up and down. Upon realizing what she was doing, Mac let go of Amelia's shoulders and said more calmly,
"I mean, um, your homework definitely needed to be viewed by another set of eyes in order to determine the appropriate correction."
Macadrian cleared her throat and pretended not to be feeling incredibly silly at the moment. She asked,
"And where did you, um, notice that there was a mistake in, ah, your homework?"
