Lorraine listened to Theo talk, even though he said only a few words. It was enough make her feel some pity on him. Then he did something that annoyed her most; thrusting hands into his pockets. That was thing she knew was a sign that a man was truly annoyed, and thus to steer clear of him.
"Well you look like you have been," she commented casually, maintaining her hazel eyes fixed upon his face. It was always better to keep eye contact when trying to comfort someone. "Oh no Theo! How could she hate you? I highly doubt that. Do you want to talk about it?"
Another tip: always leave it up to the man if he wants to talk about it. She knew better than to pry too much, but leading was more than acceptable.
