Seamus sat there, mouth hanging open at the fact that he just had fifty points taken away from him for no reason. He didn't dare say anything, though, fearing he would upset Professor Snape even further. He turned to Lavender and noticed she was very distraught about what had just happened. He smiled slightly at her and said, "It'll be alright. We'll earn them back," he said, pulling her hand out from under her face and holding it. "You know how Snape is," he whispered, only audible to the two. He held her face in his hand and wiped her tears away. Seamus didn't know why he had this sudden sense of courage sweep over him, but he didn't care; he liked it. Hopefully Lavender would see that he was trying and like it, too.
