Cale chuckled along with her as she teased him about his name, when he swore he heard her say kissing. He stopped abruptly, hoping that it wasn't too obvious why he had stopped laughing. He resumed his laughter weakly, thinking to himself. Ok, she had seriously said kissing. He wasn't deaf. He had very good hearing. She had said kissing. Which meant...that was she was thinking about kissing. Kissing him? Or kissing someone else?
Kissing was starting to sound weird in his head. He pushed his thoughts to the side, ignoring it for now.
"No, I haven't. I'm kind of disappointed...Coopers isn't a school. It's a prison," he muttered.
"Maybe we'll get to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow," she replied. "Probably not, though. If they didn't let us go today, we probably won't get lucky tomorrow. I was really looking forward to hanging out with someone
outside of this prison for a while, you know."
"So, how are things really going with you?" she asked, turning the conversation a little more serious. "The last time I saw, you were bummed out about the letter from your mom and from...other things, too. How are you doing?" She'd opted to say "other things" instead of "a disagreement with Cora." Bringing up her name just didn't seem like the right thing to do right now. Cale had seemed really upset about something dealing with her, and Anna thought it may make him more upset to hear her name.
