"Maybe the cookies are from Professor Melita...?" she said, thinking it over. "She makes them all the time. She was passing them out in class the other day, but it was when I was technically still a little bit afraid of the ministry professors, so I didn't take one. Now I know for sure NEVER to take them!"
"Cale...Caleb, one little letter doesn't make a difference, does it now, Mister Prefect?" she asked, teasing him. "I'm just kissing - KIDDING - Cale, it is." She stopped rambling on and on for a bit and just let what she'd just said sink in. She was surely a blabbermouth if she did say so herself. It was a wonder he was even still here sitting with her after the palm episode, and now this.
"Have you heard why Hogwarts was closed to us?" she asked. "I was realy looking forward to going down there to see, well...all my friends, you know," she said. She'd almost said "Going down there to see YOU! She was really losing all ability to keep her little secret safe.
"I wouldn't be surprised. But yeah, never take the cookies. Or if you do, pocket it and chuck it in the bin the first second you get," he said with a grin. Ewww, his stomach hurt just thinking of it. There was no way he was ever going to each anything offered by a Ministry professor. Never.
Cale chuckled along with her as she teased him about his name, when he swore he heard her say kissing. He stopped abruptly, hoping that it wasn't too obvious why he had stopped laughing. He resumed his laughter weakly, thinking to himself. Ok, she had seriously said kissing. He wasn't deaf. He had very good hearing. She had said kissing. Which meant...that was she was thinking about kissing. Kissing him? Or kissing someone else?
Kissing was starting to sound weird in his head. He pushed his thoughts to the side, ignoring it for now.
"No, I haven't. I'm kind of disappointed...Coopers isn't a school. It's a prison," he muttered.
