Maura pushed open the door to the Owlery, taking note of the sign. "Well, that isn't a problem, the only boy I know is Chandan, and I barely know him at all anyway!" she said to herself. She called down Marshmallow, her snowy owl. "Come here, Mallow," she said. Marshmallow looked at her. He hooted. Maura smiled at him and tied the letter to his leg. It said the following:
Quote:
Dear Mum and Dad,
Sorry I haven't been writing! It's been pretty busy, but I've met some wonderful people!
I guess I'm having a good time here. The teachers are all so nice! But as you know, we are separated from the boys at all times. Everything in Belle's school is covered in lace, flowers, frills, and Clara Belle-Cooper. It's getting pretty tiresome.
Anyway, I need to ask you a favor. Can you send me the drapes I have hanging up in my room? The blue ones with the shiny gold stars? The girls in my dormitory and I want to cover up the walls.
Hugs and kisses,
Maura XOXO
Mallow gave her an affectionate nip on the finger and flew out the glassless window towards her parents' house. Maura sighed, imagining what they would be doing and how they would react to Mallow's arrival.
Maura turned and left.
