Con's eyes had glazed over for several minutes. While everyone was talking his brain had decided to take an alternative route--mainly, into the world of his personal comic book hero, Wally Wander.
At the end of our the last issue of The Magical Missions of Wally Wander, Boy Wizard, our hero was trapped between the great fire lizard of Glockenspiel, and a man-eating chimera with a thirst for blood! Wally's wand has been swallowed by the fire lizard! What will he do now? Is this the end for our pint-sized prodigy? Or will he find a way to retrieve his wand and save the village of Smarmeepuff?
"Accio wand, accio wand," Con murmured, chanting softly under his breath. It would have surprised him to know others could hear him.
With the loud repeat of a question by Eddy and a new boy with a bouncing bag, Con jerked to attention, his reverie unpleasantly broken. Small dream bubbles dissipated into thin air. "Huh? Go somewhere with plants? Ohhhh. . . Um, sure." Con was never one to turn down an invitation. He got them so rarely, after all. "As long as they don't bite." Oh! Mental note. Wally Wander could use a biting plant about now.
