"Let me give you a brief history of myself so that you can be confident I am qualified for this job. I attended Hogwarts and was a Ravenclaw, graduating about 8 years ago. After I left, I immediately attended Auror's training, which was quite hard and very challenging," she said with a wry grin. "I managed to survive and served as an Auror for two years, before I..." she hesitated. "I quit due to personal reasons."
She intended to go on, but saw concern and curiosity on her students faces. "I married a fellow Auror during training. He was killed and I was wounded during a sabotaged raid," she said flatly. "Headmistress Loryen offered me this position, knowing my background. Headmaster Hendrik kept me on. I do enjoy teaching, and I don't intend to go back to being an Auror. Are there any questions or shall we go on?" She knew she was moving fast, but Professor Rae didn't want to dwell on the bad memories.
