Professor Rae rose from behind her desk, settling her quill on her parchment before moving in front of it. She sat lightly on the edge of the desk, looking at the room for a quiet moment.
"Good day, class. I'm very excited to be back with you today. Many of you know me already, and I hope you are glad to be back. For those who do not, I am Professor Rae, and this is Defense Against the Dark Arts. For the sanity of those who have already lived through it, we will not spend a great deal of time rehashing what exactly the Dark Arts are. Suffice it to say, they are bad. We will not be practicing Dark Magic in this room, nor will I be using it on you. We will be learning a lot of defense, and taking the time to look at several animals I think are pertinent. You will only be in danger if you act foolishly at any time. If that is the case, while I am sorry you are hurt, you will be given detention once your stay in the infirmary is over. Any questions so far?"
