She nodded, taking in the information-- she hadn't known that especially the bit about budding off.

"Well, I don't know about all that-- though I would swear I've heard rose bushes scream when I have pruned them... Mundane ones, not magical." she smiled, as though she knew what she was saying sounded rather silly. "It introduces a new aspect to herbology; I wish I'd know about that months ago. I'll have to see if I can cultivate an ear for the plants... can you do it? Can you hear them?"

He glanced over to Marco who seemed to be struggling, as usual. "Nearly as bad as Slade, I swear," he muttered. Even so, there was something affectionate about the way he said it, not normally revealed to the rest of the class. Though it was clear the affection was toward Marco, rather than the man being referenced.
She nodded- she had lived in a monastery the summer before Hogwarts and knew of these practices, but found herself unsure if their way was what she ascribed to. She smiled at him. "Thank you... you've given me much to think on." She returned to her journal as he approached Marco, who looked in need of some help.
