'You're telling me,' Susanna muttered under her breath as she smoothed out the creases in her dark skirt. 'And yeah, basically, that's what I'm saying. All I know is my dad is the youngest of five, like me, only he has four elder sisters. I don't know anything else. I don't know if they're married or parents or anything.' She chuckled under her breath softly.

Ignoring movement she could see from the corner of her eyes, she fell silent for a minute as she tried to come up with a way she could put up with it all. Was there even a way? She sighed and took a sip of her drink before placing the now empty glass back down.

'I suppose . . . because I'm more like a sister to my nieces and nephews - I'm only two years older than the eldest - it's not hard to put up with. If I'd been in Jane's position, and was twelve years older, it'd be much harder because I would be seen as an old bag, an older figure than I actually am.' She smirked at Esmeralda before allowing her blonde curls to cover her cheeks, now turning a light red with a blush.
