She knew she had sent an awful lot of birds at the Slytherin, but didn't figure it was that big of a deal. Reading his wand movements, she figured that at least one of the spells was supposed to start a fire, so she pointed her wand at the hem of her robes, casting a quick Aguamenti, drenching the bottom couple of feet of her robes and therefore making it almost impossible for a fire to start. Quickly adding Protego to block the second spell, she ends up with mere seconds before the ropes reach her.
Thinking quickly, she casts a Freezing Charm and then thinks, Evanesco!, vanishing the now frozen ropes. Before trying to dry off her robes, she casts another spell. This time, she abandons going nonverbal, figuring that he'd know the spell anyway. She casts a Bat-Bogey Hex, and then casts a Hot Air Charm to dry off her robes.
