Josh. Willow thought that Kate had closed that chapter of her life. She thought that now, that she was going out with someone else, she was over with him. Appeareantly not.

"Well, if it makes you feel better, my family is not exactly, the cozy, close family you would ever met. My father he--" she had never tell what she was about to say to tell Kate to anyone before, "He doesn't like muggleborns" she said flatly, staring at the emptiness "Or halfbloods, well not really halfbloods. But he doesnt really hang out with them much" Willow said after taking a breath. She had no idea if Kate was half blood, muggleborn or pureblood. That made Willow felt terrible, because she considered Kate one of her closest friends. "Basically, He can's stand a wizard that is not a pureblood, which is a very stupid thing actually. He believes that purebloods wizards ought to be with purebloods. That the purebloods for some reason are better than the rest".She had never opened up with this to anyone before, not even to Saylie. She took another breath and continued, "Purebloods, Halfbloods, Muggleborns. Same thing if you ask me, because as far as I know the fact that you come of either a pureblood family or a muggleborn family, doesn't make you a better person. Or wizard" she said tucking her hair behind her ears, "anyways, when I was sorted into Ravenclaw, my dad, he, he was not very pleased by this. He comes from a long line of Gryffindors and he was expecting me to be one as well. So you can just imagine how he reacted" She said bitterly remembering that letter, that had make feel worthless for days. "So, you can say that Hogwarts somehow, is kind of a place where I can be free of hanging out with whomever I want, and being friends with anyone I want to" She said smiling sadly

Willow heard her talking about how Josh had helped her in feeling better, wanted. "Yes, that definitely sound like Josh" she said as a little smile appeared on her face. "He has the ability of making you feel better, when nobody else can"
"Yes, I know that" she said quietly after hearing her comment about Josh leaving her for Tuesday because Kate wasn't open enough with him.

She heard her talking about Tuesday leaving Hogwarts, her cousin coming to spy on Josh. "I know that as well, I was with him, skating in the lake the day she left. He was pretty heart Broken" she said remembering Josh's face that day. She had never seen him that sad.

"Amos saw you two kissing?" she asked sounding more surprised than she wanted. "You wanna know what I think?" she asked to her friend quietly, and without waiting for her response she said, "If you havent gotten over Josh, I don't think is fair to Amos. I mean, I don't know him or anything, but I'm sure that he's a nice guy if he's going out with you, but, it's just too unfair for him, if you two are together, and you still have feelings for Josh"

Kate looked at her friend and listened intently as she told the story of her life. Of her father. How he was the kind of wizard who thought that Pureblood Wizards should always remain a top priority. She would never take offense – Willow can’t help who her relations are. It has nothing to with who she is a person. She admired her greatly as she had the courage to stand up against what her father believed in – what a noble thing to say – treating every witch and wizard on an equal level, no matter what their bloodline is. “What about the rest of your family?” she asked quietly. “Your mother? – Do you have any siblings?”

As she listened to Willow’s advice, Kate felt like she was the smallest person alive. Not that she felt belittled by her friend, but when she heard an outsider’s perspective on things she could almost feel the pain Amos had felt when he saw what happened. “The thing is –“ she began. And she knew she was going to sound absolutely crazy to Willow. “But – after it happened. After Amos found out. It’s like something snapped me back into reality and I realized with absolute horror what I’d done. All Amos has ever done is care for me – in a way I thought was never possible. Kissing Josh – It meant nothing to me. I can live easily enough without Josh. But if I were to loose Amos – I’d hate to think of what would happen to me.”

She sighed and kicked at the ground. “I probably sound like a lunatic don’t I?” she asked quietly, then looked back up to Willow.

“I know I’ve never told you this before, Willow – But I value the friendship that we’ve started. It’s something I don’t want to loose either. I feel comfortable talking with you – you’re an easy listener and non-judgemental – You are a wonderful person through and through. I just – wanted you to know that.”
