Juno stood there mouth open a little as the girl in front of him babbled and rambled and poured her ickle bitty Gryffindor heart out. She had called him kind. Was she nuts? She had to be. At one point, he remembered to blink. First his blue eye, then his green. He wrinkled his nose and then scrunched up his forehead in an attempt to follow her rambling. Is that even English? Or did she slip into French? No no…Kemma sounds like that every once in a while. It must be a girl thing. Womanese or something. He pulled his satchel strap over his head, letting it rest against his left hip as it hung across his chest.
It took him a moment to realize the girl had stopped talking. He was speechless, but only for a moment. Did she really think he cared about anything that spewed out of her mouth? And she thought he was criticizing. Boy did she have a lot to learn. “That wasn’t criticism. It was an observation and a suggestion. And however you want to take it, take it. Use it. Tear the piece of advice up into tiny little bits and eat it for all I care. Just don’t go screaming and yelling and putting words in people’s mouths. And jumping down their throats for things they didn’t say.”
