My interview with katiebell

I'm [Si] in blue
Katiebell is in red

What is your username and what do you do on SS?

I’m katiebell (a.k.a. Laurie) and I research, draft and post news stories here on SS. I’m also a beta reader extraordinaire.

What's the hardest thing you've had to do as a mod to date?

Spend an hour deleting posts due to flaming. It’s such a waste of everyone’s time. So please don't respond to flamers - that's what they want from you. Just let a mod or admin know and we'll take of them.

What was your initial reaction when you became a moderator?

I literally couldn’t stop grinning all day. I was getting weird looks at work.

How did you come across SS?

My daughter Katie wanted a Harry Potter birthday party so I started researching different HP sites looking for ideas. She’s a huge HP fan as well – and an SS member, too! Anyway, I found SS, saw the discussions going on, and never left.

Is there anything you would change about SS?

Just that I’d like to see the site get more recognition for all the great work produced here.

What's your favorite part of the site?

Zonko’s, bar none.

Which HP character is your favorite and why?

Well I just joined the Sirius Black Fan Club *shameless plug* and I’ll tell you what I told them. I love Sirius because Harry's feelings are so strong for him. He's the only real family Harry has ever known. And he layed down his life for Harry without hesitation. He's a true friend and a true hero. And you should all come and worship him at the Dog House. *shameless plug #2* :SBFC:

Do you have a least favorite character from the books?

Katie Bell. I can't stand her. No, um, I’d have to say Umbridge – my daughter said I always make a face whenever I read about her!

Do you think the films do the books justice?

Sorry, no. But then I’m not sure any film can do a really great book justice. I still love to watch the films, though, because you get to see the places, objects and characters come to life. I just don’t like it when they leave things out – I’d rather sit through a six-hour film than not see S.P.E.W. or the Quidditch World Cup. I am holding out great hope for Order of the Phoenix, however, because they have cast so many parts – except for Rita Skeeter.

Which of the films is your favorite so far?

Although it went waaaaay off from the book, my favorite film so far is Prisoner of Azkaban. Mainly because we got to see Lupin and Sirius, I think.

Which book is your favorite of them all?

Chamber of Secrets.

What other books do you read besides HP?

I just finished The DaVinci Code. Before that was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. And before that I read The Chronicles of Narnia. series. I plan on startingEragon next

What are some of your favorite movies?

I tend to go for comedies mainly. I don’t want to think too deeply when I’m watching a movie. Some of my favorites include Young Frankenstein, The Princess Bride and anything Monty Python.

Who are some of your favorite actors/actresses?

Actors: Gary Oldman, Will Ferrell, Scott Bairstow.
Actresses: Scarlett Johansson, Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan

Name some bands/musical artists you like.

The bands I like seem don’t seem to stay around, so I’m leery to say, but … Train, Dishwalla, INXS, Matchbox 20 and Toad the Wet Sprocket are a few I listen to. Oh, and Harry and the Potters, of course! I saw them live!

Do you have any particular hobbies?

Interior design, jujitsu (it’s a martial art) and herbology (hey, I’m from California, what can I say?)

What's your favorite dessert?

There’s several. But, if they were all laid out on a table, I’d probably go for the brownie first!

What are your favorite TV shows?

I don’t have much time to watch TV – just when I’m falling asleep at night. I usually turn on TLC, HGTV or the Food Channel. What Not to Wear, While You Were Out and Unwrapped are my favorite shows right now.

What are your favorite sports to watch/play/whatever?

I don’t watch sports. I don’t play sports. I don’t like sports. (Are you getting the idea here?) I do have a swimming pool, so I’d have to say swimming is pretty much it for me.

Where have you always wanted to travel to in the world?

I lived in Hawaii for awhile and really liked it there, so someplace tropical like Tahiti would be cool. *runs off to find travel agent*
