Several different
news sources are
reporting that while on a tour of schools author G.P.Taylor referred to Harry Potter as 'gay'. He was also accused of using inappropriate language (fart, bum, bogey and pee) and was thus removed from the hall.
Quote:
"As for Harry Potter, well, he's not the only gay in the village," the former Anglican priest told children at Penair School in Truro, referring to a catchphrase from the popular comedy TV show "Little Britain".
"All I said was that my villains are scarier than those in Harry Potter, and they are. I called Lord Voldemort Lord Vulgarwart. I said he was a bit of a wimp."
"It was a joke; a joke from 'Little Britain' that the children would know," Taylor was quoted by newspapers as saying.
"I didn't set out to offend. I'm a priest and I'm very careful about not offending people."
"It is down to a growing climate of political correctness. It is curbing freedom of speech."
Personally, I agree with G.P.Taylor, it was a joke referencing what's popular; a way of connecting with the teens who would have known what show he was referring to. I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about.
