Vi was not surprised to see how many students had showed up for tryouts, even the number of firsties and second years which included a Gryffindor, Xelene {and hey, Tiana!}. The latter always made him happier to see since he thought it was wonderful that the younger ones could possibly develop their love for the sport early. A few of those might even end up being signed for his old U-17 team. Anyway. Di was one hundred percent right: conditions were good today. Maybe even better in his eyes because of that particular Ravenclaw who… was definitely playing hard to get. Which was fine with Vi since it presented an interesting challenge for him. Despite that, if Connor didn’t come around, the Gryffindor would end up getting bored of the chase. Just because he was trying out for a Chaser position, it didn’t mean he’d be one forever when it came to Connor.

The seventh year’s smirk had grown wider once he caught him sneaking a look but of course there would be plenty of time to continue the flirting. For now, he stuck close to Di as they warmed up in the air; he was sure Falcon would do the same with Connor. Falcon always gave off the ‘protective’ sort of vibes.

Soon enough, the shrill of the whistle signalled that warm up time was over. Vi headed back to the center of the pitch, awaiting the next instructions. Hovering there, an eyebrow arched lazily as the cough set the baskets glowing either orange or teal. And were they all trying out for Seeker positions? At least this was the first thought that popped into the seventh year’s head when he heard about the crests. The instructions were quite clear enough except this time the entire lot of hopefuls were expected to work as a unit by ensuring the crests stay in the baskets? That was fine with him!

“We got this,” he calmly told Diego though he did also glance in the direction of that Ravenclaw too. As a matter of fact, he knew that everyone who tried out last year was capable. With that, Vi honed in on one of the escaping crests. Target acquired! But good gosh… the things were FAST! That hardly mattered though… not when the Gryffindor was already off, weaving between his Schoolmates, eyes on the prize. Maybe it was a good thing he voluntarily wore the headband to tame his long-ish hair because man! This challenge was intense! The crest had him zooming up the pitch, down the pitch, climbing rapidly in altitude, descending so that he felt like he was freefalling… but!

“Gotcha!”

One hand stretched and enclosed around the crest. F.I.N.A.L.L.Y!

The object in his hand struggled to escape but Viano held onto it, much like he would hold onto the Quaffle or Snitch. Since the crest had changed to bright orange, he dumped it into one of the baskets of that colour. Would it stay?

Ugh!

Ruuude!

Was the bestie ignoring him? Nah, Levi knew better. He just chalked it up to Dee being immensely focused on the tryouts. Still, that didn’t stop the Hufflepuff from manoeuvring his broom parallel to Dee’s. “Did you forget about my pretty face?’’ he joked. “Only joking. And I know you’ll do great with the tryout, Dee!”

The fourth year had a delightful time warming up, because hey, when you loved Quidditch as much as he did, he always had a great time. All too soon that was over as Cloggs was giving them another round of instructions. Okay, so that wasn’t much up his Keeper-hopeful alley. But that was more than okay! Levi was already making up his mind to catch at least five crests by the time the tryouts ended.

“Do you think we’re allowed to work as a team?” he asked Dee, amidst all the fluttering of wings. “I mean, you and I do well together.” Just a thought, and absolutely no pressure!
