Abner was more nervous than he thought he'd be. His mom and auntie and told him already all about what to expect on the sorting. He knew of the sorting hat and of all the houses. Though his dad was a muggle, his auntie (dad's sister was a witch) and that's how his mom met his dad. But why that story of all was what was running through his head at this exact moment was a whole other story.

It's like his brain couldn't think what to think so it was relying on old stories.

"Quigley, Abner"

He had heard his name, and jolted up, knocking into someone on the way. With a quick apology and not even a turn around to see who it was, AJ took his seat and placed the hat on his head.

"Ah, you are quick to action young lad. But you are indeed loyal to a fault" AJ smiled, well that was rather true, he recalled the past summer when him and neighbor boy had gotten into some trouble.

"You are a rather odd mix. Where to put you?" It was like the hat was asking him where to be put. He didn't know, Hufflepuff seemed nice, but he did not want to be in Slytherin. "Not Slytherin?" Could the hat read his mind?? His mom never said anything about that!!!

"Well then it better be HUFFLEPUFF"

The hat shouted the last word to the entire hall. Smiling and taking the hat off, AJ turned to find his house.
