Elara arrived without announcement, slipping into the Great Hall with the quiet certainty of someone who preferred to observe a room before becoming part of it. The staff table was only just beginning to gather life, which suited her well enough.

Her gaze moved across the length of it, taking in the current occupants before she approached. Two, for now. Familiar only by association, not by name.“Good evening,” she offered as she reached the table, her tone warm but measured, accompanied by a small, polite nod to each of them in turn. “I hope I’m not late to anything important.”

Smiling politely enough, she took her seat a moment later, smoothing an invisible crease along the table’s edge more out of habit than necessity before settling in properly. Though she was at one of the ends of the table, she didn't feel isolated. Instead, she appreciated how her seat allowed her to take in the room without being drawn into it too quickly.

For a brief moment, her attention lingered along the empty stretch of the table.Opposite ends, she had been told. Her gaze traced that length almost idly, as if mapping it out in advance, before she let the thought go just as easily as it had come. There was something quietly amusing in the certainty of it.
