~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ Claimed by Bits ❤️ ~ Queen of Typos ❄ Magical Mosh Pit ❄ Emi waited with bated breath, ignoring the somewhat ambrosial air due to the vast variety of plant species housed there, she waited for Becky to react. And she did! Thank goodness! They did their best to help her with the earmuffs but there was so much happening at once, it was impossible not to be a little distracted. For one thing: DERP’s Department Head had arrived, and for another, it seemed that Curtis was out cold. He and his shoes were clearly of no use to anyone at the moment. Emi resisted the urge to roll her eyes in his direction, even if he couldn’t see it. But just maybe Violet’s spell would revive him. If not… well, they would just chalk it up to Curtis looking for a reason to nap on the job.
Upon Violet’s question, rather than answering, Emi took a good look at Becky who, by the way, could have used them to steady herself as long as she needed. “You’re welcome,’’ they replied, sizing the woman up in an attempt to determine her physical wellbeing. The sweet she popped into her mouth seemed to help, and Emily found themself breathing in relief. The last thing they wanted was for a coworker to be hurt. Now they answered Violet’s question with a quick nod and a small smile. All good here, boss lady!
Emi patted Becky’s hand that squeezed her, and watched her depart for the Mandrakes, they suddenly felt awkward. Like… they didn’t fit in. Really, they didn’t. They weren’t a botanist or that skilled with plants like everyone else, though they were currently enrolled in university to change that; Emily was just a plain ole receptionist. Toying with their ponytail by twisting the strands of hair into a curl, Emily tried their best to follow along with Becky’s words. There was something about ‘broken ones’? Their gaze flitted to the shelves. Oh! New pots were needed! "Coming right up!" Feeling relieved that there was at least some manner in which they could be of help, Emi used magic to levitate new pots so they can be accessible to the employees there.
Now, Emi knew they should pitch in to help but it had been a while since they repotted one of these little guys. So, pretending that they weren’t actually scrutinising Becky’s actions via side eyeing, they proceeded to scoop up spilt soil. |
