Diego was happy to hear that his work was done correctly by Professor Curious. Her gentle approach helped him feel comfortable with his efforts. When looking up his name he found it was a Spanish one meaning "Saint James". It had Latin origins and was derived from 'Santiago', which was cool because his cousin Tómas had Santiago as their middle name. Though, he couldn't really ask his birth parents why he was named Diego, he just knew that his name was still loved enough by his dads that they didn't change it after adopting him. And he was glad for that.
When it came to the next question, Diego responded when it was his turn. "My owl, Oatie, I had named after the food Oatmeal, because he reminded me of it physically with his coat color and little specks on him. But more importantly, Oatmeal is a comfort meal and very hearty, and I got that feeling from him being so friendly and open to love." Which sort of answered the question, "So if I were to get a new pet, I would take their personality into consideration with their physical traits like before... but if I were drawing a blank on their name in the moment, I would then look up some potential names and their meanings so it would fit." So it wasn't just a matter of one reason, after all. |
