Submit Your Signature Here Have a signature (many SSers call them "siggys"!) that you'd love to show off with a little extra razzle dazzle? You're in exactly the right place! Before you jump in and submit though, please take a moment to read through a few simple guidelines we have in place to keep things running smoothly. RULES: Host All Images On Your Own Image Account:
Please make sure you’re using your own image hosting account—absolutely no exceptions.
Why does this matter? Copying and pasting an image URL directly from the site where you found it is known as hotlinking (or direct-linking). Hotlinking isn’t allowed here on SS because it pulls bandwidth from the original site. Over time, this can slow that site down, cause it to crash, or even result in fines due to excessive traffic. It’s a headache for everyone involved—and definitely not worth the trouble.
If this is still a bit confusing, you can find a helpful explanation here.
We personally recommend using postimage.org, though there are plenty of other options out there. As long as the image is hosted on your own image account, you’re good to go! Sizes:
Here are the required sizes you’re allowed for your signature:- No bigger than 450 pixels in width
- No bigger than 200 pixels in height
- No heavier than 60kb (61,444 bytes). If you’re using multiple images in one signature (for example, three 100x100 sized images in a row), the kbs of ALL the images together cannot exceed 60kb (61,444 bytes). For one big image, the weight requirement of the image stands the same
- You can have up to THREE separate images that, together, form one signature
- If you want to use smilies, the maximum number of smilies you can use is 6. They don’t count as file size/weight but they do count towards the height of your signature
- Blank spaces/lines in between or before images/text do add up to your total pixel height. Their exact value is the same as the size of the text/code used to format your signature (look below for more info)
Text Height:
While you are allowed text in your signature space, they do count towards the height of your signature. The overall height of your signature, which includes text and image, cannot exceed 200 pixels. Please make sure to include the font and colour of the text in your signature request otherwise the default, black Verdana, will be used, instead.
Here are the pixel equivalents of each sized text:- Size 1 = 11 pixels
- Size 2 = 15 pixels
- Size 3 = 17 pixels
- Size 4 = 19-20 pixels
- Size 5 = 23 pixels
- Size 6 = 28 pixels
- Size 7 = 39 pixels
Please note: with a text-only signature, you are allowed a maximum of 11 lines of size 1 text and so on. Helpful note: Need colour codes? Here’s a good website for them, as is this one. Font and colour personal default settings can be changed by going in your User CP > Settings & Options > Edit Options Rotating Siggies:
Rotating siggies are a great way to keep your signature space fresh and visually engaging. You’re welcome to use them, but please keep the following guidelines in mind:- ALL signatures in your rotation must fall within the size requirements: 450 pixels x 200 pixels, 60kb.
- All signatures must follow SS rules, particularly regarding image content (for example: no profanity or provocative imagery).
- If you include text in your signature space, it must fit within the height limits alongside every signature in the rotation.
For example, if several images are 175 pixels high, a single line of size 1 text may be acceptable. However, if one image is 190 pixels high, that same line of text would no longer be permitted—even if it fits with the other signatures.
If you’re interested in rotating siggies, we recommend sig.grumpybumpers.com and signavatar.com Things not to do:- Do not steal or repost other creators' (on-site and off) artwork, icons, or graphics. Please give proper credit to the artist using the graphic credits section of your profile.
- Do not post graphic requests here. SS has many talented graphic makers, and several run shops where requests can be made—please use those instead.
- Do not create a new post if you are asked to edit your current submission. If a moderator requests changes, use the edit button to make the necessary updates. Signature issues that are not corrected within one week of a moderator’s last edit will be deleted, and the submission will need to be resubmitted.
- Do not pressure moderators to speed up the process. Moderators are volunteers and may be busy both on and off the site. Please be patient. If a week has passed with no update, you may politely follow up with any of the Moderators who have signed-off to be Signature Changers.
- Do not include links that violate any SS rules.
- Do not use http links in your signature space. For everyone’s safety, please ensure all links begin with https.
Finally, all SS Board Rules and Gladrags rules apply, no exceptions. HOW TO SUBMIT A SIGNATURE: To make things easier for you, we have a template for you to follow. Please answer the following four questions in your post:1. Is this your OWN image hosting account?
2. Do you want your signature left aligned, right aligned or centered?
3. EXACTLY what you want your signature to look like* this is just an example 4. Have you read every rule stated above? When we say exactly, we mean EXACTLY. Please do not describe what you want your signature to look like or add in little notes about keeping this part in or taking something else out―submissions of this nature will be deleted. It takes a lot more time to describe what you want than to just code it yourself. Add in exactly what you want your signature to look like, including everything from colour to coding to font to images. Need help coding? We’re more than willing to help you out! The second post in this thread includes a list of useful codes and there’s also this post you can utilise. Still stuck? Please feel free to give one of the Signature Changers a nudge and they’d be more than happy to work through it with you.
