All the thoughts...The tall snake boy, brushed a hand though his wild locks of brown hair before starting to peruse the menu. Could the bespectacled girl of his dreams just arrive so she could distract him from thinking too much? The bell above the door chimed as Iris stepped into Madam Puddifoot’s and almost immediately wrinkled her nose at all the floating hearts and lace draped tablecloths. Somehow she had completely forgotten about this decor, or perhaps she had simply blocked out the memory since it did not serve her to allow it to occupy much space - more room for runic scriptures and the Tamil translation she was working on. The tea and pastry here was loads better than the Three Broomsticks, which is why she had even thought of it. Plus it was close to the window display she knew her shopping would end with and had also calculated she would spend an embarrassingly long time staring at. A wistful reward after dragging Nyle through Tomes & Scrolls all morning.
She spotted JT almost immediately from the corner table and her steps quickened without her permission. "Sorry, I didn't mean to keep you waiting," she said as she slipped into the seat across from him.
Then came the thud.
Her mokeskin bag hit the table with a density that absolutely betrayed the laws of physics - because it absolutely did. For something the size of a small lunch satchel, it sounded like she’d dropped a fully stocked library on the doiled table. "…I may have overestimated my upper body strength and open shelf space," she admitted under her breath, nudging the bag into a better position with another series of gentler thuds as several heavy spines clunked together inside. Her nose wrinkled again and resisted the urge to open the bag up to fix the arrangement again. "Been looking forward to a custard slice and pot of Earl Grey lavender tea all morning. Perfectly reasonable reward after several hours of rigorous book acquisition and to counterbalance intellectual exertion, wouldn't you say?"
Not entirely adequate sustenance, but one didn't come to Puddifoot's for that.
