Or at least it had felt like a whole year. Mama and Dad hadn’t budged on letting them get their wands before they could officially start Hogwarts, but today was the day.

The smol auburn-haired girl had bounced into the queue, glancing back at the family members who had accompanied herself and her twin on this trip. Plus, she’d wanted to make sure her twin was there with her, or at least there in the queue with her to get his wand too.

She’d let his hand go when it was her turn to be measured, though. Some things were better off done on her own, and it wasn’t as if she wanted Damien’s measurements mixed up with hers. She wanted her own wand.

With a cheerful ding!, Zeke slid the drawer of the cash register shut, having finished up with his most recent customer. But there was no rest for the wicked - or the lesser wicked entity of the wandmaker - and so it was back towards the measuring area so that he could call forward his next customer.

"Hello there," he greeted the girl who held that happy status, beaming and plucking the parchment of measurements out of the air so that he could consult them. With a few 'mhm's and 'aha's along the way, he soon reached the necessary conclusions. "Give me just a moment," he said to his customer, before striding away to scan the shelves. He found the box he wanted, slid it from the stacks, and returned.

"Here we are, then," he said brightly, popping the lid off of the box and holding it out to offer the wand inside. "You know what to do? Just give this a wave and we'll see what happens. Let me know if it feels... right."
