Malachi knew basically what to expect with exams, and he had found his own way of managing to keep from getting too concerned about how his own would go. Not that he would have been overly concerned in the first place. It wasn’t like he was a Ravenclaw, and he figured that his dad could get him a position at the reserve if needed.

Carefully charmed not to get wet if any of the lake denizens decided to get playful, while he was ostensibly studying. Ostensibly because half his mind was focusing on what would happen next term, when Daphne would be here and he wouldn’t, but for the most part, the information from the text was registering. Probably because he knew it was still important to at least try to get decent scores on the exams. Nepotism was plan B, after all
