It was a relief to see that the Fire-Making Spell continued to hit its target and destroyed it, but it was only a small amount of relief since none of it fully stopped the vines. What would it take to actually defeat this foe?

Attacking the source of it in the Indoor Garden, yes, that was logical. Xerxes had the right idea.

Apollo aimed another "Incendio," toward the base of the vines swinging Xerxes in the air, and a second fire spell in the direction of the vines grabbing at Emma. Hopefully those spells hit their marks too, but he didn't let himself linger to watch while he tried his best to dodge out of the way of other vines. Perhaps some instincts from Dueling Club were finally clicking for him, because soon he was following Professor Burbage into the garden area.
