Your plan of action was a brilliant one. Yet you both can only look in one direction each simultaneously. Neither of you were looking directly above at the time. The pixie swooped in, rapping the boy smartly on the head then the same with the girl. It had been aiming to distract you from the other attacking pixies within eyesight.
The spell the girl sent missed the pixie she was aiming at by a hair. It stuck its tongue out at her while dancing with glee. The spell the boy sent, however? It hit its target with great precision. The little rascal zooming ceased drastically so that it drifted almost serenely towards you.
Another one for the smaller cages, perhaps?
