Xerxes opened up his textbook and went all the way to the back. Hidden amongst the index was a listing for the very same person they were discussing in class. He flipped through the pages until he found the very entry he was looking for.
After reading, Xerxes raised his hand and said, "According to the textbook, she was a schoolmate of the famous Harry Potter. Apparently she took part in the Battle of Hogwarts alongside him." "That's correct." Vashti nodded with approval. "She was in the year below Harry Potter at Hogwarts, and she bravely fought in the battle at the end of the Second Wizarding War." Quote:

The Slytherin also wholeheartedly agreed that it could be difficult to get into the headspace of those who existed ages ago.
He took a moment to ponder before raising his hand, having decided again referring to his textbook. “Luna was kidnapped during the second Wizarding War as part of Voldemort’s scheme to pressure her father, who was the editor of the Quibbler, into stopping his publishings of articles that supported Harry Potter.’’ "She was indeed," Vashti said with a nod. "And a very difficult time it must have been for her and her father." It was easy to empathize with the fear a parent would feel for his child in that situation and how it would lead him to do anything to keep her unharmed. Quote:

She nodded At Ary as he voiced the same thought as her. "I know that she thought that the cork necklace protected her from Nargles." As far as how they supposedly did that, she was at a loss. Aurora started taking notes, waiting to see if Jan would have anything to add on.
The lesson continued, and Aurora raised her hand to answer the question. "She later became a famous magizoologist. She discovered and classified many new species of magical creatures." "She certainly did," Vashti replied, nodding. "She contributed so much new research and knowledge to her field and to the wizarding world because of it." And gaining more knowledge about the world they all lived in was invaluable. As each student gave an answer, words appeared on the board, creating a list of facts beneath Luna's name. They reordered themselves as needed to follow a timeline. And once there was a pause of a few seconds with no hand raised, it was a good time to move on, though not before Vashti included a few additions to the list herself with a quick flick of her wand. “Great selection, everyone,” she said. “I've added a few more to our list we've gathered here, but of course, these are just a handful of notable things about Luna. If we tried to cover everything about her and her life in depth, our lesson would go on far longer than the time we're allotted today.” She wouldn't mind, of course - she could talk about the person of Luna Lovegood and the events of this time period for hours on end - but it was likely the students had other ways they preferred to occupy their time. So a general overview with some moments of diving deeper were the focus of the day. Quote:

- Discovered and classified many species of magical creatures never before encountered “There is one more aspect I do want us to hone in on before we move on to our final activity,” Vashti continued. “As Mr. Areyu-Rehman mentioned, Luna’s father, Xenophilius Lovegood, was the editor for The Quibbler. Prior to the Second Wizarding War, he and the magazine were known for publishing stories that most people would consider… well, quite strange, to put it diplomatically. Some articles were truthful, such as the interview with Harry Potter that was published in February 1996, while other stories were far more fanciful, like the article that asserted that Sirius Black was actually Stubby Boardman, the rock star.” Quite the imagination Xenophilius Lovegood had, that was certain. “Perhaps unsurprisingly, Luna took after him in his beliefs. But was that the only reason? Do you think she believed in things like wrackspurts and Crumple-Horned Snorkacks only because of who her father was? Would she have never believed in them if she was part of a different family? Or would she have come to believe in them on her own terms at some point? How do you think these beliefs impacted the choices she made in her life?” She was very interested in their thoughts on this. There were no wrong answers since some questions were purely hypothetical, and they could not ask Luna herself for her thoughts. But it was another exercise toward understanding Luna Lovegood as a person, so any opinions on it could be enlightening. --- OOC: Class will move on in about 28-29 hours from now.
