Smiling at the sight of Amstern, the Slytherin wiggle-waved his fingers in her direction. Hi, Professor! Now, he surveyed the classroom’s setting as he headed for one of the tables. The closed boxes instantly grabbed his attention, his dark gaze fixed on the one at the table he had chosen to sit at. And what was with the curtain? Since Ary hadn’t selected a table towards the back, he couldn’t subtly investigate. That was all fine, however. He would simply busy himself by getting his books ready. Ah, first arrive was Mr. Atreyu-Rehman. Vashti returned the smile and the wave. "Good morning," she added, though she did not expect a response. He was an excellent student, finding a seat and preparing for the lesson. Quote:

”Morning, Professor Amstern.” She gave her a smile then turned her attention to the class set up. Well, this was certainly different. And she was curious to check out the boxes, but she would be good and resist temptation. The black curtain was also tempting, but instead of going over to check it out, she took a seat beside Ary. ”Hey,” she said to her friend, giving him a playful nudge.
As she waited for more people to arrive, Aurora busied herself by taking out everything she needed for class. "Good morning, Ms. Bay," Vashti replied, smiling. She knew the early mornings could be difficult for some, so it was always nice when students arrived with bright eyes and smiles. Quote:

Naturally, Jan went to sit at the same table as his bestie, Ary, and Rory had joined them. "Hey," He smiled at them. He saw the boxes too, but the board did warn them not to touch it, so he didn't and waited for the lesson began.
"Hello, Mr. Grunt," Vashti said with a smile. Having watched how often students' friend groups sat together or worked together throughout the term, it was no surprise to see him join the table he did. Friendships certainly made lessons more enjoyable, as she knew from her student days. Quote:

Which meant of course, after Tiffany's waves at the two slytherins, plus Aurora, her hand went to grab for the box, curious as she was.... "Hello, Ms. Rose," Vashti greeted the girl with a smile.
It seemed she hadn't seen the instructions on the board though - or at least, Vashti gave her the benefit of the doubt that that was the case. "Not just yet, Ms. Rose," she cautioned gently. "You'll find out what's inside soon enough." With a glance at the clock and then a flick of her wand, the door to the classroom closed. It was time for class to begin.
"Good morning, everyone," Vashti said with a smile. "Today, we're going to be narrowing our studies to focus on one particular person from history. And to find out who that person will be, we'll begin with a little activity." She gave her wand a flick, and the lids of the boxes on the tables disappeared.
Inside each box, students would find four items: a pair of earrings, a necklace, a coin, and a colorful pair of glasses.
"I want you to figure out who these items belonged to, and to answer a few questions about them. What importance or usefulness do each of these items have for that person? Why does it have that usefulness or importance? Even if you're not sure who the person is, make an educated guess." This wasn't a quiz, so wrong answers weren't something to worry about. They could prove enlightening in showing one's thought process, even if they were incorrect. "You may discuss with your peers at your table if you wish, but be sure to write your answers down too." And Vashti would be around as well, in case any questions came up. OOC: Class has begun! Everyone is still welcome to join any time, just remember to post as if your character has been here all along. Characters announcing a late arrival IC will result in points loss.
Class will continue on in approximately 48 hours.
