At the next question she raised her hand. ”They’re very strong for their size. They can lift people.” Something that they enjoyed doing.
Indeed the mystery had been solved, but Aurora - or anyone else - need not worry. There had been many safety precautions put in place for this lesson. “Correct,’’ Dhruv confirmed once Aurora had given her answer. “If you’re not careful around them, pixies will grab you by whatever means necessary: by your ears, your hair, your clothing… and take you airbourne. Naturally that puts you at great risk because there’s a chance you may fall.” The fact imprinted itself upon the board. SPOILER!!: Antony! Quote:

Admittedly, his lack of interest was perhaps exacerbated by his desire for summer to arrive already. It was still a few months away, which felt like forever, and it made it even more difficult than usual for him to keep his focus in lessons.
But focus he did, at least for this second question. A fact about pixies. Sure, he knew some things. Like... Hmm... "They grow to a height of about 20 centimetres, at least on average," he said after raising his hand, "which definitely adds to the impressiveness of their strength." To build off what Aurora said. Quite the feat that such a small creature could lift someone so much bigger than they were.
So far, Antony had remained silent during the lesson, and unless Dhruv was misreading the body language, the Ravenclaw seemed a little uninterested. No matter just as long as he wasn't zoned in and made relevant notes.
Smiling, the professor nodded. They did like it when students built off of each other’s answers. “Twenty centimeters or approximately eight inches. Quite a marvel that such a small form is home to such strength. They are a fine example of ‘never judge a book by its cover’.” SPOILER!!: Diego! Quote:

Diego luckily didn't experience any incident at home with Pixies. His parents were really good on maintaining the house from any pest invasions.
That was something the class would be finding out in a few minutes; there more than likely would be some degree of chaos for the young witches and wizards to conquer. “Pixies are thieves, yes. Anything to which they take a liking to, those sneaky little creatures will snatch in a second without hesitation or a second thought. In many cases, you might as well say ‘goodbye’ to your belonging.” SPOILER!!: Rose! Quote:

Listening to her peers responses she raised her hand to say when it was her turn. "Pixies have very shrill voices. When they speak to each other it sounds like a lot of arguing budgies." Which explained the chattering voices they had heard when coming into the classroom. The sound belonged to pixies. Maybe she should have braided her hair into a crown? Hopefully the pixies didn't like black hair. “Excellent point, Ms. Snakebark. This certainly would explain the strange sounds you heard earlier.” But just where were those pixies lurking? “Such loud, extensive chatter-like noises can be quite a nuisance.” Which was another reason why Dhruv had ensured that it could not be heard during the theoretical part of the lesson. SPOILER!!: Kartik! Quote:

He chuckled at Diego's 'fact' on how pixies can steal things. "They like dancing in the moonlight."
Dhruv indicated to Kartik, whose hand seemingly was the only raised one now, to give his answer. They chuckled at it. “Some do, yes. I doubt they have much time for such an act when they usually have other michevious acts occupying their time, however.” * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The professor took a careful glance around the classroom for any additional raised hands. Finding none, they spoke up once again. “If you take a look at the board you will notice that each of the mentioned points are there. You may make your notes if you haven’t done so already. While you do, it is also important to note that pixies are electric blue in colour, are capable of flight. They are classified as triple X by the Ministry of Magic. From our previous lesson, you will recall that this rating means ‘should have been no trouble to competent wizards’." And there were plenty of competent students in this classroom. “Pixies are placed in the ‘Beast’ category, and are related to Fairies and Doxies. However, they do not lay eggs as they give birth.”
Dhruv now fell silent, giving time for note-taking to be done. They thoughtfully moved their gaze upwards, to the ceiling of the class. They were quite confident that the experience the students would gain today would be helpful in the future should they cross paths with the little nuisances. “Right. Now we’ll be moving along to the practice aspect.” As they spoke, they made their way back to the front of the room. “There are many spells that can be helpful to you when dealing with Pixies, some of which you would have covered already, even if you are a first year. Today, we will be focusing on the Slowing Charm.” The information made itself known on the board, just below the list of Pixie facts. “Arresto Momentum, pronounced ‘ah-REST-oh - mo-MENT-um’, slows the velocity of your target. A simple wave of the wand accompanies the incantation.” Here, a few demonstrations were completed. “If done correctly, a strong beam of turquoise light will be issued from your wand. Go ahead, do your practice of the two separately. We’ll move along in ten minutes.” Quote:
