Text Cut: Winnie

Damocles watched Winnie take her second shot. She did very well. As she returned to her seat, her eyes beginning to devour the pizza before her mouth could, Damocles stood up and grabbed his bowling ball. He walked over to throwing line and took his aim. He swung his arm back and brought the bowling ball forward, releasing at just the right moment.

To his horror, the ball immediately veered off course and went right into the gutter. Damocles continued to watch as his ball rolled the length of the lane and fell out of sight. He laughed awkwardly and turned to Winnie (her mouth full of pizza at the moment) and said “Well I did warn you that I wasn’t very good at this. ”

Damocles shrugged and picked up his ball again. He took his second shot and managed to make it all the way to the pins this time. However, he only knocked over three of them. He shrugged again and returned to his seat. While he could probably have eaten another slice of pizza, he decided to wait a minute to let his stomach settle first. He also wanted to let Winnie eat as much as she liked before having any more, which he thought was polite. “I believe it’s your turn again.” he told Winnie.
