❝MerMay 2025: SWEET TREAT

At Tokyo Disney Sea, there is a Mermaid Lagoon area based exclusively on Atlantica from the Little Mermaid. It is sincerely my favorite area at the part and truly brings out my inner child every time we visit ― and the stage show performed there every half hour or so is breathtaking ― and just adjacent to Ariel's Playground and across from the Blowfish Balloon Race ride is a little stand that sells ice cream. Among those is a sea salt ice cream (that comes in a little clam shaped container with Ariel on it). It is a must every visit and the first thing that came to mind with the prompt 'sweet treat'. I tweaked this concept from an ice cream cup to a creamsicle/popsicle look for this drawing mostly on a whim a whim and I was nibbling on an apple pie popsicle while working on the sketch.

I also attempted two Ohuhu Marker tutorials for this piece: bubbles and wood grain. The wood grain result is not ideal and I for sure need more practice as my brush strokes were a bit heavy handed, but I am pleased with the bubbles! Working with the colorless blender over finished areas can be beyond nerve-wracking and sheeesh she my white gel pen pick the worst times to clog...but the clogs sort of helped add to the overall effect
