I can’t recall if this was ever an official trend or just something the algorithm served me so often that my brain declared it one—but I distinctly remember a wave (pun intended) of wavy, gradient hair being dubbed “mermaid hair.” That became the spark of inspiration for this piece: a pastel rainbow–haired mermaid with chibi sea creatures frolicking through her flowing locks like it’s their own personal playground.

Only regret is that the pastels did not layer on top of each other like I hoped they would to create her hair texture and use of the grey marker did wonders for shading but nooooooooot the greatest of things for texturing. Became a real 'just trust the process' and waiting for all the ink to dry One of these days, hopefully, I will pluck up the courage to attempt individual scales.
