There was another guy approaching the discovery garden who seemed to already be familiar with Lily? Kartik observed a moment and wondered if he too was a transfer from America? He could have always been here and just Kartik had his head in his books the last five years where he hadn't noticed. "We haven't met yet. Kartik," he said in greeting, maybe hoping the other lad would offer some more insight as to if they've been here or recently transferred as well.
States? What was Addyson on about? He stared incredulously between the two girls, looking to Lily for confirmation about Ilvermorny. Don't blame him though - America was a foreign country and he was well-versed in history involving countries much nearer to home rather than across the pond. He was confused though because wasn't the 'United States' also North America? So really one said simply, 'America', they needed to offer much more clarity? He wasn't trying to be nit-picky except for someone who claimed ignorance on the subject, it was telling how much he did know. "Right... But Canada is North America. United States is North America. They're both considered America. Brazil is also considered America. So saying something is America is a generic word as the Americas consist of many countries." He generally only argued when it came to his sister, but somehow the playful banter seemed to come naturally.
More talk about Ilvermorny though was actually interesting as Kartik was intrigued by a different school. The only school he'd heard much about was Beauxbatons as it'd been closer to home, which to his recollection there actually were a few transfers from there.
Oh good that she didn't need a new wand. "Ah that's good, so wands are still attached to the wizard then. Although I must ask, most spells are the same, but now what sort is different? I think I've heard that different word for muggles but I'd always just assumed that the spells would be the same regardless of location."
He stared incredulously on the names for their exams. Surely that wasn't the actual name but just nicknamed by some students and it caught on? Like he was almost positive that OWLs and NEWTs had more proper names. Funny names. "Lake Tahoe." he repeated the foreign sounding place. "So guess you'll really be missing the sunshine then. You must be freezing," he mused.
Oh the other lad's name was Soren? Now the only piece missing was if Soren had been at Hogwarts these last few years or did he transfer as well?
