She tilted her head to one side, considering the answer carefully. An idea suddenly occurred to her, and she bent to get a closer look at the footprints. “Maybe they weren’t created with shoes at all. Do you know of a spell that could produce footprints?” she mused out loud. She shook her head at the next question. ”No, not on this floor. Did you?” "Oh, that's a good idea." She should probably have considered that the footprints could have been made by magic. Around here, that tended to be the answer more often than not. Something mysterious and magical going on wouldn't really be all that surprising. Except, she didn't know a spell that would do that, and she shook her head to indicate so. "No, not off the top of my head anyway. That doesn't mean one doesn't exist, but I'd have to do some research." Since it wasn't something she had learned in class, it also meant that if someone had intentionally cast such a spell they also would have had to look it up. It wasn't a huge clue, but it was a clue nonetheless. "Have you learned one like that?" It would be helpful to know, actually. Since Alissa hadn't come to Hogwarts until her fourth year, it was possible that younger Hogwarts students might have heard of a spell that Ilvernormy students weren't taught at the same age.
Alissa shook her head again at the girl's next question. "No, I haven't noticed anyone in particular coming in or out of this entrance. Definitely not a whole group of people. Unless...they could have been invisible?" |
