It had been a long while since Charlie had been in the Great Hall, having had another little health blip in the middle of last term that had necessitated some time away from school. Summer had already started before he'd been deemed ready to return, which was of course way too late for him to see out the end of his third year.
Not that he was behind. Charlie had done all he'd needed to do to progress onto the fourth year, because he obviously wasn't going to allow the alternative to happen. It wasn't like it was hard, anyway.
The novelty of having the feast on the same day as his birthday had long since worn off. Actually, so had the novelty of his birthday in general; it was just sort of childish to get all worked up over that kind of thing. So, though today was also the day he turned fifteen, Charlie seemed supremely unconcerned by this, or by anything, as he entered the Hall and took a seat at the Gryffindor table. He glanced around at those who were already there, then propped his head in his hand and stared unseeingly towards the front of the Hall, looking bored. |
