Well that didn't make much sense. Elio couldn't see how a fluffy little replacement would be anything like having this real original Sophie around. He frowned slightly, and was tempted to point this out. Really very tempted. Because it didn't make sense. But even though it was very tempting to point out this flaw in her logic, something stopped him from saying it, in case it made him seem not-nice.

But that didn't extend to compliments, because that would be straight up lying. Again, Elio was not above lying, but he wouldn't lie in order to lose an argument. So he just said, "Oh." But he did not sound convinced. "Well. Alright."

And !! she apparently didn't get the memo that they ought to be nice to each other, or at least her eyebrows didn't. Nor did her words. And as if to counteract the girl's expression, Elio's own eyebrows dipped into an even deeper frown than before. He regretted, now, humouring the girl and not challenging her on the pygmy puff situation, now that she was trying to challenge him. "Well I do." He did. He did want it. "Because it's useful. You wouldn't understand." And it wasn't like he needed her to understand anyway. Nope. Elio Kaiser was the master of his own destiny, and his destiny was to buy all this stuff that he absolutely both needed and wanted. "I mean. You're the one getting a pygmy puff."

Did he feel bad for sort of accidentally insulting the pygmy puff when his real target was the eyebrow girl? Maybe a lot.
