But, now that they were behind him, he felt as free as a bird. Like a seagull. Or...preferably something cooler than a seagull.
The actual results were still to be discovered, sure, but who cared about that? Nothing he could do about it now. Whatever they would be, they would be.
And so ezra was determined to enjoy the summer holidays as much as possible, which meant hanging out with his friends as much as possible. Today, that was anna.
Having confirmed meeting up at florean's to start with, he arrived just a smidge early and plopping himself into an empty seat to wait. Grabbing some ice cream while he waited was tempting, but he decided it'd be better to wait for her so they could eat together. Despite having spent the majority of the term forgetting that OWL examinations were even a thing and only really doing an legitimate studying the week prior to sitting them, Anna was quite optimistic about her results. Such was the way of the slightly taller than before swirly haired manic pixie dream girl (a phrase that had been tossed her direction by a peer and she had decided to adopt since she liked pixies and dreams) who had wholeheartedly prescribed to the mentality of 'what will be, will be.' A poor score in Potions simply meant that she was not destined for a career in the field, right? Anna ought to care just a little more and perhaps she would once her results were in and parents weighed in on the results.
Had daddy ever sat OWL examinations? Yet another mystery she would, perhaps, never know the answer to. Especially not now with mum seeming to come down even more harpy-like whenever Anna brought him up and asked questions. Maybe next time she would not be asking around the dinner table while asking for someone to please pass her the gravy.
But, for now, the only wondering on this Hufflepuffle's mind was what kind of ice cream Ezra liked. She had realized on her skip to meet him that she had committed a true friend faux pas in NOT knowing what his favorite flavor profiles were when it came to such things. Good thing the plan was to get some ice cream today! See? Everything happens for a reason!
Spotting him eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasily, she quickened her skips and would have thrown herself at him for a hug BUT...he was sitting down so that would have been awkward. Not awkward in the sense that she thought her fun sized frame would cause his chair to topple over and take her with him but rather that she might accidentally whack herself on the chair and get a bruise or something. "Ezra! Hi! So glad to see you!" she beamed as she came to a stop beside his seat but continued to rock back and forth from toes to heels and back again. "Did you remember to put on some sunscreen today? Mum is really strict about protection won't let me leave the house without it and I have a little travel sized bottle in my bag if you didn't that you can use if you'd like. Something to do with an allergy to ultraviolet? I think...maybe...sounds familiar though...like maybe Professor Gert mentioned it in class before..." ✽••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✽ Quote:

But getting to experience all this with her dad was fun. But the adrenaline from the day was starting to wear down and now greer just needed to sit back eat something and wind down. So she took a seat outside to watch for her dad to come back and just took in the world around her. It may have taken her ALL term to get the techniques Professor Carton had instructed her on down pat, but she was confident in her ability to keep a stupid leaf under her tongue now. While summer vacation meant a brief break from the practical studies, Sage was determined to prove a point (to herself at this point) that she could manage more than a month and therefore her latest litmus test would stand the test of summer vacation. Take THAT walking and chewing gum at the same time. She could have applied some of that determination to a couple of her neglected subjects last term but the Slytherin also had zero regrets about letting certain studies go by the wayside. They were simply casualties to her ambitions and nothing to cry over.
Same was said about certain people with certain attractive features. Casualties and unnecessary distractions, obviously.
Taking a break from observing dad performing wand fittings in Ollivanders, Sage escaped detection out the backroom with a bag full of twig clippings to be turned into mulch for the wand tree farms (recycle, reduce, reuse...wand edition). Her own independent research had her wanting to try a bit gardening and perhaps grafting herself in her dormroom for the coming term...which was not ideal for the Slytherin dormitories but she did know a weather charm or two that would help substitute some of the essentials.
Sage did not possess a particular sweet tooth, but a warm summer day did warrant a nice fruity sorbet and thus she made her way to Florean's for a treat curtesy of the Ollivander's till. It would just be her luck that the tables were full save for one table with a girl considerably younger than herself. There were no other bags with this girl so the rising sixth year concluded that she had come alone and was not waiting for any family inside - or maybe she was just hoping this to be the case.
"Hey, these seats taken? It's more packed than a niffler's pouch in there and I don't want my twigs to snap so I'm hoping to leave them here for a little while I go order."
Sure, it was a bit out of character for her to trust a complete stranger with something important but considering she could get more clippings if this girl turned out to be a rubbish guard it would not be a particularly big setback.
