Desiree was glad when the debate was over and even more so that the debate hadn't devolved into a screaming match. Debate was definitely not her thing, but she couldn't help but feel a little proud for taking that step outside her comfort zone. Not only had she done it, she argued points that went against her personal beliefs, and she took care to word those points in a kind way. All things considered, that was a win!
She half expected for class to be dismissed, but there was another question. This time she wasn't assigned a side, thank Merlin! She considered the question carefully. On the whole, she thought The International Confederation of Wizards was a good thing for the reasons Brandon mentioned, but it seemed to her that much of their action took place behind closed doors. Seemed strange for an organization meant to foster communication!
Ary made a good point about too many opinions hindering decisions, so much so that it made Desiree reconsider her own reasoning. She thought it might be useful for The International Confederation of Wizards to open up the lines of communication not just to its delegates but to the entire wizarding world. There was no way for one person to know every issue their country faced. A broader line of communication could fix that problem so that fewer incidents would fall through the cracks… but would it have the unintended effect of introducing too many opinions? Conflicted in her thoughts, Desiree kept quiet.
