Reuben had been on the way... somewhere when he'd got distracted by the pendulum. He passed by the clocktower at LEAST once a week, probably... maybe, but he'd never really looked at it. And what had started as him trying to figure out what on earth was etched onto it had slowly morphed into him timing the swings.

Because he couldn't really see the etchings very well, nor could he understand them, and concentrating on them was giving him a headache. Counting the swings, timing how many seconds were between them, though... Well, it felt like a sports drill. And Reuben wondered if he could run from one side to the other in the time it took for it to swing.

Or would he be knocked out?
