| Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium To those that didn’t know her, it may have looked like Paton was staring aimlessly out over the pasture as she awaited the students' arrivals but that wasn’t the case at all. Being their care of magical creatures professor meant that all of the creatures living in the barns and pastures were under her care, so it was very normal for her to constantly be keeping an eye out for anything that may not seem right. Even during a lesson. But yes, this is what she was doing because even in this weather there were still a small amount of creatures that needed their breath of fresh air too and were out there on the other side of the pastures doing their thing until they made their way safely back into the barns.
So it was as her gaze swept across the snow covered pastures once more that she saw the bright smiles and finger wiggles of Aryan and her youngest daughter making their way towards her. ”Hello, how are we feeling this afternoon? Ready for a fun lesson?” Hadleigh smiled warmly at the two of them, returning the finger wiggle. A soft laugh slipped past her lips as she watched them both remove their coats and shove them into their bags. ”Do I have it that warm over here?” she teased.
As always, once the first one or two students arrived the stream of students to follow seemed fairly consistent. ”Hello there, Miss Thanatos. We are, we are! We won’t only be watching them this afternoon so I hope that you are ready for whatever they have in store for us all today.” One could never be too sure what a creature was going to do even during a lesson, this was why she always told the students to be aware of what was going on around them and not just with the creature they were currently tending to.
Here was another older student, this one more certainly dressed for the weather. ”Good afternoon, Mister Ridley-Rush. I personally don’t mind the snow, however I can do without us getting snowed in and I think all of the creatures would agree too.” Paton smiled softly. Snow was quite lovely but they didn’t need THAT much of it.
Now while the previous student had been prepared for the weather, this one had come completely prepared for anything and everything. Hady couldn’t help but smile knowingly as Miss Marchard made her way over. ”Hello, I see you took my note to heart.” She always made sure to warn the students of when they needed to wear certain things because she knew that some weren’t fond of dirt or water. Sometimes these things couldn’t be helped during her lessons though. ”Miss Atreyu-Rehman, good afternoon, she smiled warmly at the third year whom she knew to be very much a creature lover. In quick succession another Gryffindor followed that of the first, also all dressed up for the weather. ”Hello, Miss Armstrong.” Seeing the warming charm being cast, Hady looked at the students gathered around. ”There is a warming charm cast where we are all standing but please do let me know if you aren’t warm enough, I can cast a charm over you to help.
Lifting her hand to return the wave that was sent her way, her smile still remained in place. ”Hello there, Miss Dolph. Go right ahead and take a guess if you like. I know that some of you already know what we’ll be working with today. Maria would be glad to know that it was indeed warmer inside the dome and they wouldn’t be working with anything dangerous today.
Oh, goodness, shivering and shaking students was not something she liked at all. ”Hello, Miss Montmorency. Why don't you come stand by me, hm? There’s a warming charm over here and we’ll be going inside in a moment but I can cast a warming charm on you if you like?” She wouldn’t be keeping them outside much longer.
Was this it? Perhaps the arrival of her final two students? Paton returned the finger, ”Hello, Miss Bunbury-Foster. Hello, Miss Archard. A look out into the distance told her that it appeared that way as did a very quick glance at the time. Which was wonderful seeing as to how she really wanted to get everyone inside where it was much warmer. ”Good afternoon, everyone! It’s really cold out here despite the warming that I have cast earlier so I will be making this quick so please listen up,” Professor Paton, gently clapped her hands to gather everyone’s attention. ”Some of you have already figured out what we will be working with today and for those of you that haven’t quite guessed as of yet you all are getting to have a more hands on experience with some Mooncalf that have come back to visit us again. For those that had attended the Mooncalves under the Moonlight activity she had held back in September, these mooncalves may look familiar.
Now that they all knew what was inside.. Well it was time to get out of the snow and freezing cold and inside the dome where it was nice and warm! ”Alright everyone, go on inside Hady opened the door and stood to the side to allow them all to enter ahead of herself. Once inside they would immediately feel the warmth of the area and notice that it wasn’t at all what they may have thought from the outside. For one, it was much much larger. Two, they appeared to be outside once again (only, they were still very much inside). It was darker in here but there was a moon and many many bright stars scattered across the domed ceiling above. Beneath their feet were grassy pastures and dens where the mooncalf no doubt were hiding. If they looked closely enough and listened hard enough maybe they might see or hear them peeking out or moving around.
Once they were all inside, she closed the door securely behind them all. ”You’re all welcome to take a seat if you like or have a small look around. Just don’t wander too far off yet please as I have a few questions before we start with our activities. So feel free to take a seat for a few moments if you like or you’re welcome to remain standing if you choose.” There was a brief pause for the students to get settled before she continued. ”What can you tell me about Mooncalf? What do they eat? How are they classified by the ministry? Where might we find one if we were looking for them? Anything at all, it doesn’t have to be what I asked.” She was simply curious to see what they all already knew and what they needed to discuss. OOC: Heeeey! Thank you all for sticking around! Sorry for taking ages to move this along but the first round of questions are up! As always the students are always welcome to ask their own questions as well! There’s plenty of time to jump in and join us still too. I’ll be moving us along in about 24-36 hours
